Rodent facility

The facility is dedicated to the breeding and housing of transgenic mice lines used by IBPS teams in research areas like development, neuroscience and neurobiology of ageing. Open to IBPS members, it belongs to the Sorbonne Université Network of Small Animal Phenotyping, “RPPA”.

The platform is organized into two conventional animal facilities: The principal facility of 500 m2 is dedicated to the breeding and housing of transgenic mice lines. The entry of new lines is restricted to animals with at least the same health status; otherwise animals are decontaminated by embryo transfer. This animal facility is equipped with a surgical block (gas anaesthesia, stereotactic instruments, and binocular microscope).

The experimental facility of 75m2 is dedicated to mice or rats used in short-term projects.

In both zones the technical staff assures sanitary control, care and well being of the animals and applies the procedures required for animal experimentation.

The platform was approved in November 2004 by the “Direction Départementale de la Protection des Populations” (Accreditation No. 75-05-24 A, renewed in October 2010).
